Artist of the Week: Concrete Knives

It’s almost summer time, the sun is shining, and the patios are full. What makes this time of year even better is knowing that Season 3 of Rookie Blue begins tonight.  There is not a more fitting band to feature as our Artist of the Week than the sunny pop group Concrete Knives, who are featured in tonight’s premiere episode of our favourite cop drama.

Infectious is the word to best describe the sound of this five-piece French indie pop group. Their EP, You Can’t Blame the Youth (released in 2011) has a great energy that gives you that sugary kick you require on a hot summer day. It will be hard not to get up and dance to the chanted vocals and 80’s flavoured beats of their featured tune “Greyhound Racing” on tonight’s episode.

If you like what you hear, keep your eyes pealed for their soon to be released album, Be Your Own King.

As in seasons past, we’ll be listing the music in each Rookie Blue episode on the Rookie Blue Music Tumblr — be sure to check it out weekly and update your iPod accordingly!
