Artist of the Week: Dan Griffin

As the weather continues to heat up, so too does the third season of Rookie Blue.  In addition to the appropriately named “Temperature’s Rising” by The Audition, this week’s episode features the music of fellow Torontonian Dan Griffin, a founding member of indie-rock outfit Arkells.

Coming from a musical family, the multi instrumentalist quickly found himself involved in a number of projects, and went on to release his debut solo album Stars and Satellites to critical acclaim.  Griffin since played alongside Canadian folk staples including Cuff the Duke, Luke Doucet, and Jenn Grant.

We at Vapor certainly look forward to seeing Dan’s next moves, but in the meantime you can enjoy Griffin’s beautifully understated track, “Lorne Park,” on Rookie Blue Thursday, June 14th at 10pm on Global and ABC.

P.S. Head on over to Dan’s site for a free download of his most recent release “Leave Your Love”

About:
“A touching, somber foray into deep folk, quiet pop and humble alternative country…”
- The View

It’s a go-to album for me when I’m looking for ‘moments of folk inflection and ambient echoes of Springsteen and Peter Gabriel’”
