It’s the summer of stellar male singer-songwriters on Rookie Blue this season! This week’s Artist of the Week is none other than William Fitzsimmons, who is featured twice over the course of Season 3.
Born to two blind parents in Pittsburgh, Fitzsimmons developed his multi-instrumentalism from an early age. Learning from his parents, who were both recreational musicians, William showed musical prowess from an early age and was taught piano and trombone throughout his elementary school days. He went on to teach himself to play the guitar, mandolin, melodica, banjo and ukelele. He is also credited as both the engineer and producer of his two albums, both of which gained considerable crtical acclaim and attention.
2011 saw the release of Gold in the Shadow, Fitzsimmons most recent work. Unlike his past catalogue, which explored a more melancholic side of folk, Gold in the Shadow is a “musical reflection of the personal resuscitation and psychological renovation.”
“Ever Could,” from Gold in the Shadow, is featured in Episode 5 of Rookie Blue, Season 3, and stay tuned for another song in Episode 10 — enjoy!
