Artist of the Week: ColeCo

And now for something completely different! Toronto has a longstanding history as a musically diverse city, and the late 80′s and mid 90′s were known as a well-spring of creative and forward thinking electronic music. With dance music making such a major resurgence internationally, Toronto is well on its way to reclaiming its spot as one of the world’s Dance music hot-spots, thanks in part to this week’s featured duo, ColeCo.

Pronounced Co-Lee-Co, ColeCo is Toronto nu-disco-punk duo Duncan Grewar and Sean Koch. The two met in the mid 90′s while DJing within Toronto’s blooming Drum N’Bass scene. They went on to produce a number of internationally popular club tracks until reforming as ColeCo in 2009. Since then, ColeCo have released two EP’s and myriad remixes which have garnered massive praise from dance music tastemakers around the world.

The duo are currently working on their full length LP and continue to defy genres and labels while playing to packed dance floors across North America. Turn up your subwoofer, secure anything fragile in the room and prepare to dance to “Vision” (Club Bass Remix) by Toronto’s own ColeCo, as featured in Episode 6, Season 3 of Rookie Blue.
